At the Asian Academy Awards 2022, Basil Joseph won the Best Director prize for his 2021 superhero film Minnal Murali, which was made and streamed on Netflix.
Basil Joseph, who gained international recognition with his superhero movie Minnal Murali, is currently enjoying himself following his entertainment and significant triumph at the Asian Academy Awards 2022. At the Asian Academy Awards, which recognises the best talents from the 16 APAC countries, the renowned Malayalam director won the Best Director prize. After a two-year hiatus, the big event was hosted at Chijmes Hall in Singapore.
The director won by a margin of 0.17 points in the final round against Japanese director Gekidan Hitori’s “Asakusa Kid.”
Both movies had their Netflix premieres. The young director said the Indian cinema industry has been producing excellent content for a long time and has been working hard every time to go international. He says he is pleased to have contributed in some tiny manner to the vision of Satyajith Ray, K G George, Padmarajan Bharathan, Khabir Khan, and Anurag Kashyap. He expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of his picture, including the producers, VFX India, his family, and friends. Two characters in the coming-of-age film “Minnal Murali” find themselves suddenly endowed with superpowers. They both employ it in quite different ways.
